One Month into Service, Disney Skyliner Has Transported 1 Million Guests
That was fast!
Can you believe it? Disney’s new Skyliner gondola transportation system has already transported 1 million guests – and it’s only been open a month! Yes, it’s been a (literal) bumpy start to service for the Skyliner system but with the system back on track, the system is already hitting new highs.
The Skyliner transports guests high into the sky on a very short and quick trip to Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and some of the surrounding resorts all while taking in one-of-a-kind views from the sky. It’s important to note that while Disney World remains busy throughout all times of the year, the past month has not been considered peak crowds or peak Florida heat. There is much debate whether each gondola should be equipped with a small air conditioning unit or if the breeze of passing air is sufficient to keep travelling guests cool so we’re very interested to see how the system handles the summer crowds and heat in 2020.
Let’s hear what some of the first million Skyliner guests had to say about their airborne travel experiences:
Disney Skyliner has already become popular among guests staying at the connected resorts. The gondolas connect to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as four resorts: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort which opens in December. Additionally, resort guests staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn can board the Skyliner system at Epcot’s International Gateway station and take a quick “flight” over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This is a huge first milestone for the newest transportation system at Walt Disney World with many more to come. Plus, there is speculation Disney plans to extend the Skyliner system to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and more resorts if the system turns out to be a hit among guests. How many guests do you think it will transport in its first year?
