Guests will travel to space in a space elevator 220 miles above Earth to dine at the new Space 220 restaurant.

EPCOT has a brand new space-themed restaurant called Space 220 coming this year, and we’re here to give you the inside scoop on all of the details you need to know!

This out of this world experience is going to be one that you must put on your list. Cleverly named “Space 220”, because just like the International Space Station, this restaurant is located up in space 220 miles above the Earth’s surface! Or at least it will feel that way. Space 220 is located next to Mission: SPACE in the Future World East section of EPCOT.

Upon entering the restaurant, you will step into a Space Elevator, which in classic Disney Imagineering fashion is actually just a cleverly designed room. Once inside the space elevator, you will become completely immersed as you look at Florida shrinking below, and as you are whisked up to the space station to eat.

Space 220 Restaurant Overview

  • Cuisine Type: Out-of-this-world culinary experiences.

Space Station Dining Room and the 250 Foot Wide Window

Once you arrive at the station, you will be greeted by giant windows and an amazing panoramic view of the Earth beneath you as you float along. You’ll have views of a space station, stars, and a full day/night cycle!

Disney is achieving this effect using cutting edge window/screen hybrid that they pioneered for use in the brand new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and their upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser resort experience. They create an extremely convincing illusion of depth so your eyes will be absolutely sure you are staring out into space. To give you some perspective, the screen that simulates your view of space is 250 feet wide.

When Does Space 220 Restaurant Open?

As of the current moment, Disney has said that the restaurant will be coming “Winter 2020”, which leaves room for interpretation. While technically this means the opening could be as late as March, we tend to believe the restaurant will be opening in late February. This is purely speculation, but we wouldn’t be shocked to see Disney plan Space 220’s opening date as 2-20-2020. How cool would that be?

Update March 6, 2020: Disney has now provided an update that clarifies Space 220 restaurant is scheduled to open next month (April).

We expect advanced dining reservations for this location to be available at that time as well. Check back soon as we will keep this guide updated when firm opening dates have been announced. In the meantime, there are plenty of amazing restaurants at EPCOT you can visit right now for a delicious meal or snack.

What’s on the Menu at Space 220 Restaurant?

While not much is known about the menu at the restaurant so far, we do know some things. The restaurant will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group, which is known for their talented culinary work at other upscale restaurants on Walt Disney World property. We also know the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We can draw some parallels to the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom to estimate how meals and hours will work at Space 220.

Space 220 Restaurant’s Meals and Hours Estimate:

  • Breakfast: 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Lunch: 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Dinner: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Park Closing)
Space 220's entrance is next to Mission: SPACE in EPCOT.

Advanced Dining Reservations at Space 220 Restaurant

Right now we’re not 100% sure when advanced dining reservations for Space 220 will be accepted. It will most likely work the same as Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. That means it will be a popular and a high-demand location, so getting a reservation will likely be tough and need to be planned out well in advance.
