The day has finally arrived! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens TODAY! The ride opened to the public today at at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to much anticipation and fanfare. …and some hiccups as well.
It’s an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order. And this time? You’re in the middle of it in one of the most advanced and immersive Disney Parks attraction experiences ever.
Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge launched in late August, critics were quick to point out the land felt incomplete – and that’s because it was. Due to unforeseen construction difficulty, Disney made the decision to open Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge without it’s flagship attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. It’s important to point out that Disney Imagineers likely never intended for the land to be experienced without it’s flagship attraction given the amount of creativity and resources poured into this one attraction alone. Rise of the Resistance is Disney’s most expensive ride ever built.
Featuring movie-quality theming and special effects, the attraction features one of the most immersive experiences Disney has ever built. R5-Series Droids guide guests as they race, fly, and flee through many lifelike movie scenes aboard a First Order Star Destroyer.
Delays and Downtime – Worth the Wait
Because Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance uses a complex combination of ground-breaking systems, breakdowns and limited hours of operation will be frequent until operations are smoothed out. This is the first attraction of its kind in the world so these things are to be expected.
I want to spare you some of the details to help avoid spoiling this one-of-a-kind attraction but I wanted to tease that for example, one massive room within the attraction houses over fifty menacing First Order Stormtroopers. A whole host of familiar characters await you inside. Was it worth the wait? Definitely. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a must-see attraction for every Star Wars and Walt Disney World fan alike.
