Travelling during August could be a great way to save money if your school starts in September. Be aware that August is a very hot and sunny time of year at Walt Disney World. You’ll need to take precautions against the sun such as wearing a hat, lots of sunscreen, and taking mid-day breaks.

The typical weather at Disney World in August is a high of 91° with a low 75° (F). It usually rains about 14 days. Be prepared for intense heat, sun and afternoon showers.

Noteworthy August Dates

  • August 1-15 – Typical heavy summer crowds.
  • August 16-28 – Summer crowds begin to decrease as school begins for many districts in late August.
  • August 28-31 – Crowd levels slightly increase for the upcoming Labor Day weekend holiday as well as EPCOT’s annual Food & Wine Festival.

How busy is Disney World in August?

August is a fairly busy time as with any Summer month at Disney World. Crowd levels start out at Heavy Crowds (4/5) and gradually decrease to Average Crowds (3/5) by the end of the month.

When is the best time to visit Disney World in August?

Any time in August is a great time to visit. EPCOT opens its annual Food & Wine Festival at the end of August which we highly recommend attending at least once.
